The Wharton School - University of Pennsylvania
Leading the planning and programming exercise for the Wharton School Executive Education Program (The Wharton Learning Center). The Wharton School is planning for the design and construction of a new home for the Executive Education Program, which will provide new space for academic classrooms, breakout and pre-function spaces, dining, as well as a 130-key hotel.
Delaware State University
Lead negotiator for the acquisition of Wesley College, a 147-year-old private liberal arts college in downtown Dover, Delaware. Wesley College is comprised of 21 buildings on 50 acres offering programs in 14 academic disciplines. The acquisition of Wesley College is the first time that an UBCU has acquired another institution of higher education.
Lead negotiator in the procurement of a $111,000,000 ten-year food service agreement with SodexoMAGIC LLC to provide student, faculty, and staff meal plans, retail, catering, and concession services for a 6,000-student campus and community.
Responsibility for the oversight of DSU Auxiliary Services comprised of campus wide mail and copier services (Ricoh), food services (SodexoMAGIC), and campus bookstores (Follett).
University of Delaware
Responsible for the departments of Finance, Budget, Internal Audit, Investments, Information Technology, Human Resources, Campus Safety, University Police, and Facilities, Real Estate and Auxiliary Services.
Oversight of the master planning activities for the 272-acre former Chrysler assembly plant renamed the University of Delaware, Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) campus. The campus can accommodate up to five million square feet of transit-oriented development including a hotel and conference facility. The site is also home for the newly constructed Newark Regional Transportation Center (NRTC) on the Northeast Corridor rail line. Negotiated a 75-year ground lease with Chemours, a spin-off of the DuPont Chemical Company, for their 300,000 square foot international research hub.
Oversight for the decommissioning of two residence hall complexes and the disposition of those properties to the City of Newark and to a private developer.
Managed the activities of the Finance Office in gaining approval for a $200 million bond issuance to fund numerous capital projects for the university.
Howard University
Oversight responsibility for Facilities, Real Estate, Project Management, and Environmental Safety.
Reorganized Facilities to better serve the needs of the University by aligning resources in maintenance and operations to cover residential and academic buildings in a like manner.
Lead the negotiations with the commercial developer that had control over the one million square foot Howard Town Center, which is adjacent to the main campus.
Provided design and programming oversight for the interdisciplinary science center building, which was the first academic building to be undertaken at the university in 35 years.
Georgetown University
Oversight for the University Facilities Master Plan (20-year plan). The plan provided the framework for the Southwest Quadrangle (residence and dining hall), Cooper Field (football and lacrosse stadium), Thompson Hall (athletic training center), Hariri Building (McDonough School of Business), and Regents Hall (interdisciplinary science building).
Provided oversight for numerous studies related to land acquisition to provide assets for future athletic needs (fields) to ensure the university's success in being able to provide appropriate facilities for student athletes.
Negotiated the purchase of 3300 Whitehaven St. NW and 2001 Wisconsin Avenue, NW from the National Academy of Science and ultimately sold 2001 to the British International School of Washington. 3300 houses the information technology office of the university.
Government
Experience serving on the Planning Commission, City Council, and as Mayor for the City of Falls Church.
National Endowment for the Arts, Design Arts Program, oversight for $4 million grant program for individual, organizational, and municipal entities. Interacted with Mayors, City and Town Planners, and affordable housing providers in helping to visualize and realize physical change and revitalization in their communities.
